And while they might not be royals, they are as far as the Lego Creative Team is concerned.
The children, ages 5-10, will join six others, all age 10 or under, from the New York metro region to act as special ambassadors for the Ridge Hill attraction.
Mamaroneck resident Wynn Petchor, 5; Croton-on-Hudson resident Benjamin Cady, 8; Yonkers resident Alexander Gutierrez, 7; Mount Vernon resident Chelsea Marie Phaire, 8; Cortlandt Manor resident Bryan Heindl, 10, and Buchanan resident Victoria Calabro, age 10, will assist Legoland's Discovery Center Westchester’s Master Model Builder Anthony Maddaloni with a range of exciting activities.
“I’ve been building with Lego bricks my whole life and love that I can use my mind to be creative with them,” said 5-year-old Wynn Petchor. “My dad gave me all of his Legos from when he was a kid, so I've got some really old ones.”
The Creative Crew will participate in exclusive building sessions, attend and report on special events, and have the opportunity to test out new rides and games.
“When I grow up I want to be a Lego designer,” shared Bryan Heindl, age 10. “I have been building with Lego bricks since I was four years old and I don’t think I will ever stop.”
The announcement follows a two-month search. Submissions were evaluated on the creativity and enthusiasm exhibited in the child’s response, and imagination conveyed in the child’s Lego model.
“Selecting this year’s Creative Crew was a tough job,” Maddaloni said. “We had so many amazing creations that made choosing just twelve very difficult. I’m thrilled to begin mentoring our new crew as they explore their imagination and am excited to see what they will accomplish in the year ahead.”
Legoland Discovery Center Westchester is at 39 Fitzgerald Street in Yonkers
